Finding your public IP takes less than a second: open the MEU IP GLOBAL home page and the address appears automatically as soon as it loads.
Public and private IP are different
Your public IP is the address your connection uses on the internet. Your private IP is the address inside your own network, usually something like 192.168.0.2 or 10.0.0.5. One does not replace the other: the router translates between them using NAT.
How to see the private IP
- Windows: open Command Prompt and run
ipconfig. - macOS and Linux: run
ifconfigorip addrin the terminal. - Phone: in Wi-Fi settings, tap the connected network.
Why the number changes
Residential providers usually use dynamic IPs. After a router restart or a long session, the address may change. That is normal and does not indicate a problem.
Check IPv6 too
Many providers already deliver IPv6. It is worth running the IPv6 Test to see whether your connection has a native route and whether modern apps will prefer that protocol.
