IPv6 test: does your connection support it?

Test whether your provider gives you real IPv6 connectivity.

Result

IPv6 —
Your connection did not return an IPv6 address right now.
The test queries an endpoint that exists only on IPv6. No response means your connection has no native IPv6 route, which is still common with many providers.

This test reaches a service that exists only on IPv6. A response means your provider delivers native IPv6; no response means IPv4 remains the only path your connection has to the internet.

How it works

  1. 1Open the page and wait for the IPv6-only connection attempt.
  2. 2If an address appears, copy it to compare against your IPv4 address.
  3. 3If nothing appears, read the common causes below before contacting your provider.

Why is my IPv6 not detected?

The usual causes are carrier-grade NAT without IPv6, an older router with IPv6 disabled, a firewall blocking ICMPv6, or a corporate network advertising IPv4 only. Try another device and disable the VPN before drawing conclusions.

Do I need IPv6 today?

The internet works without it, but IPv6 improves access to services that already run on it exclusively and often reduces latency on modern mobile networks.
